Cute one: Fox news, on the custody case in Brazil, reports that the Supreme Court of Brazil is on its regular "winter vacation." I wonder if they're curling or just ice skating the frozen canals.

Left the senate comedy marathon on while doing bills, etc. One Dem after another standing there saying "Yeah, it's a piece of shit, we all know that." Like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree.

Public burnings continue at dk - Hamsher, Feingold, everyone's getting involved. I wonder what the future holds for the Obama presidency if this is really his most important issue and he won't lift a fucking finger, or even eyebrow, to support it except to bash his own base.

Wow. This has never happened before: I was curious to browse through the comments on Franken, but the comment thread actually shut down my computer.

There will always be this incrementalist argument that we need to just get something in there, any sort of placeholder, and fix it later. Trouble is, that isn't the way the senate works, assuming for the moment that it works at all. Once they've done a halfass job on something, they're done and off to bungle the next crisis. McCaskill was being extremely optimistic when she noted they can only do one thing a year.

I have given in to this cat, the second in this house and I didn't want either. He seems to be a reincarnation of my beloved lab, Melvin capital M, with many of the same behaviors including standing at attention and staring at the cupboard where his food is kept instead of coming and asking me, and batting at my hand - always an indication that he wants to be petted. Absurdly affectionate for a cat, he cries if blocked from the bed at night.

The other one is more typical. He seems to regard me as a nuisance at best.

The house remains relentlessly and boringly male. We took both these cats in believing them to be female. Such is the deceptive nature of cats.

MCat is back on the boards. For the life of me, I cannot understand why she uses AOL, but

Chacun son goût!

I am seriously thinking of adopting another chihuahua tomorrow.I passed a pet store today and inside was a grey chi with unusual markings and long legs. 8 weeks. If they are asking a huge price, I'll stand down.

Brian Williams is being as idiotic as Drudge:

"While the conference on global WARMING, is going on, we have the opposite problem here.."

Oh the biggest stores are in the path of the storm! XMAS shopping is endangered!

I mean, the hell with the planet being endangered. Only shopping will save us!

How long did they have to prepare for this summit? And a string of cliches is the best they can do. If these problems are ever going to be fixed, people are going to have to do it themselves.

Those solar power generators fit for camels you mentioned in the other post could come in quite handy once we've turned this whole place into a desert.
