Not that I have anything to complain about, looking around the world today…..
But in czeching on news throughout the day, I’ve bee kind of annoyed that the CNN website is consistently showing the “iconic image” of the young woman mourning over the dead body of a student, shot by Nixon’s revolutionary guard, so to speak.
We see Neda, and come up with our own “iconic images”.
But never draw the connection to the differing historical contents of the events.
I’ve yet to see any article reflecting upon the fact that an intensely prosperous country, as the US was at that time, the government was killing its young to silence that dissent.
Just sayin’

There is something called a “syndicated view” in our stats.
Have you got us tangled up with the Mob, Miss D?

As the other administrator of the blog, I am as clueless as you.

Notice here: I have gone into total breakdown, in anticipation of attending a family reunion this Saturday, and consider it unwise to post anything right now. I will return when I can; these things are extremely emotionally draining. (In some ways, I would prefer to be run over by a semi.)
The only thing that can save me is that I have a little job to do in the same area, tearing out this bathroom and rebuilding it. Salvation lies in keeping my focus on rotting floors and self contained showers.

As you are rebuilding the powder room, keep singing “We Are Family”
and good luck.

remind me sometime to bring up my theory of Canadian voices. Leonard Cohen. Joni Mitchell. Etc.

Please do. I’d like to read it. I’ve listened to Cohen a bit and I really like him but don’t know a whole lot about the guy and from what I’ve seen his lyrics are very ambiguous. One of these days I need to get around to actually buying one of his albums.

Can’t expect anyone in the US media to make these kinds of connections or put things into historical context. We need to move on and put the past behind us – right down the memory hole.
Hell, the guy who wrote “Ohio” was Canadian ferchissakes.
